Marketing translation, SEO and copywriting services

When producing your German marketing material you may have considered your brand voice, how to use storytelling and idioms to convey your ideas, or how to make your copy resonate with your ideal customer. And for online copy, SEO.

To do the same in English often means moving away from direct translation and re-writing the source text. English-speaking readers may be familiar with different stories and idioms, your brand voice may be more effectively achieved using the different linguistic strategies, and your English-speaking ideal customers are likely to search for different keywords and phrases.

How to book

Three easy steps to complete your English marketing project.

Book a free consultation

Read the PDF on how to prepare your project brief, upload your German source text or outline, and schedule a call.

Approve the brief & quotation

After our call I will send you a summary of the brief and a quotation for you to approve.

Receive your English marketing text

Once approved, I will start work on your marketing translation. You may need to answer a few questions as work progresses. You will receive your finished copy before the agreed deadline.

What if I don’t book?

If you decide to use machine translation or translate your copy in-house (even if you have a native speaker working for you), you are likely to end up with a literal translation.

Although this may appear fine to you, as it will be very similar to your original text, it is unlikely to appeal to your English-speaking target readers.

They will be confused by the German sentence structure, idioms, and cultural references, which will make your text difficult for them to read.

Simply substituting the German words for English ones is not enough to persuade your English-speaking audience, who need engaging and relatable content to make them read further and book.

Frequently asked questions

What is transcreation?2024-07-08T19:49:56+01:00

Transcreation is a creative form of translation often used in advertising and marketing, when a brand needs to translate a brand name, slogan, or tag line.

Most of the time these types of phrases cannot be directly translated.

A new idea is created in the target language to have the same effect on the target reader as the original idea had on the source language reader.

It is the effect on the reader (producing an emotional response from the reader) that is being translated rather than the words.

What is wrong with a literal translation?2024-07-08T19:49:48+01:00

A literal translation may appear to be just what you ordered. After all, it contains the same words as your German text, but in English.

But the reason it looks so good to you is because you understand German and already know what the source text says.

For an English-speaking reader, who does not understand German, it is likely to be difficult to read. The German word order, phrases and idioms, and cultural references, are all hurdles to be overcome.

Online marketing requires you to engage the reader within only a few seconds, which means you need to instantly hook them in with relatable, engaging, and persuasive, copy. A literal translation can’t do this for you.

What is SEO in translation?2024-05-20T17:25:17+01:00

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) ensures that your target readers can find you on the internet.

English-speaking visitors use different keywords and phrases to search, so it is important that your English online marketing content takes SEO into account.

The quality of your English copy is now more important than ever, as search engines reward high-quality content that is relevant and useful to users, rather than the old method of keyword stuffing.

What if questions arise after you have completed the translation?2024-05-23T19:25:33+01:00

If you have any questions after receiving the completed translation, then do get in touch. I can clarify any points you may have, and we can discuss solutions to any outstanding problems.

Suggested solutions may include amendments which fall within the scope of the original quote.

If the scope of the amendments exceeds what was included in the original job, we can agree on an hourly rate, or a fixed price, for making further changes.

You will receive a new quotation to confirm before any additional work commences.

How much does a translation cost?2024-07-08T19:48:57+01:00

The cost of your translation will depend upon the length and complexity of the text and the estimated time it will take to produce.

If the text is easy to read, and sent in an easily editable format, such as Microsoft Word, it helps to avoid additional formatting, editing and research costs.

Once we have discussed the project I will send a quotation for you to approve before starting work.

How and when do I pay?2024-05-20T17:37:03+01:00

A quotation detailing a fixed price will be sent to you after our call. You must approve the quotation before any work is done.

An invoice for payment will usually be sent once the project has been completed. Payment in Euros is usually requested within 21 days by bank transfer. The IBAN number is shown on the invoice.
